What Is Coaching Anyway?Well, you know what a coach does for a team -- helps the members of the team to be their best and reach their goals. Personal life coaching is similar but, rather than focusing on teamwork and competition, your coach works with you individually to help you meet your needs. The coaching relationship is based on creating solutions, not on beating competition. Wouldn't it be great to be "coached" to reach your highest potential? Is Coaching the Same as Counseling or Therapy? No, coaching is different. In counseling or therapy, much of the time is spent on dealing with past "issues" and psychological conditions. In coaching, the focus is on deciding what you want to accomplish now and in the future, and getting some support to help you reach your goals. I'm Not Sure What I Want, Can Coaching Help?Frequently, this is the reason a client wants a coach. You may know you want a change in your life, but don't know exactly what you want. Coaching can help you figure that out and get you moving in an exciting new direction. What Are Other Reasons People Hire a Coach?Besides helping you figure out what you want out of life, there are a variety of reasons you might hire a coach, but here are some of the most common:
How are Coaching Sessions Done?Coaching sessions are usually held in 45-50 minute appointments. Most often they are done over the phone; this saves you time since you don't have to commute. In fact, you don't even have to dress up for the appointment! The phone appointment also makes coaching available almost anywhere, so you don't have to be in the same city as your coach. Also, many people feel a little more comfortable speaking over the phone rather than in person. They feel they can speak more freely to communicate ideas and express their needs. What Kind of Topics are Covered in Coaching Sessions?Topics can vary greatly depending upon your needs. Here are just some of the topics I can help you with:
(Refer to the speaking program section to read descriptions of topics.) How Would I Know if Coaching is Right for Me?Coaching is a mutual relationship, meaning that in order for you to reach your goals, you need to be an active participant. As your coach, I am there to support and encourage you -- but it's your life and, ultimately, your actions that will create lasting changes. Ask yourself these questions:
If you can answer "yes" to these questions, coaching would be the very best step you could take for yourself. Is Coaching Expensive? How much would it be worth to make some real changes in your life? Or to have someone work with you to identify what you really want out of life? Or to bring some peace and fulfillment back into your life? Clients find that coaching fees are an extreme bargain for all that you get back. For specifics on my fees, contact me and I'll be happy to discuss the many options available to you.
